About
West London born Jaixia is a storyteller across multiple mediums, including music, poetry and textile art.
The songstress’ emotive and honest compositions have been known to pull at the heartstrings; balanced with an unwavering penchant for positive affirmation and healing frequency, which she weaves effortlessly into her storytelling. Since penning her first song ‘No Quitter’ at age 12, she has continued to take her mother’s advice in flipping the narrative, turning negatives into positives. Her mission: to ensure herself and others can feel seen and heard through her art and music.
‘At once intuitive and affecting, there’s a mesmeric quality to Jaixia’s velvety voice; silky, subtle textures that create lusciously redolent sonic surfaces… crème de la crème voice and undeniable gift for songwriting’ - Celebmix
As a textile artist, Jaixia Blue completed her BA (Hons) degree in Textile Design and Business Studies (specialising in Screen Printing) at the University of Brighton. Here she formed the basis of her debut collection ‘Jigsaw Heritage’ which explores the artist’s dual British and Caribbean heritage, as well as the unique life experience of her grandmother’s journey to London, UK toward the end of the Windrush period. The project has since been exhibited as a solo show in galleries and museums across London. Viewing her design study and practice as a mode of piecing together the gaps in her female lineage; herstory, is a focal point of Jaixia’s artistry. Her work now sits delicately between textile art, sound, film and fashion. Working with natural and deadstock materials where possible.
